1st Atomic Time – Sync Your System Time with Atomic Servers
Review by on
If you want to replace your Windows clock with something else, then you can try out the Green Parrots Software-developed application 1st Clock – besides displaying the time, this application can also display CPU and memory load, displays a calendar, and lets you set up alarms and reminders.

Now if you do not want to replace the Windows clock, if all you want to do is keep your system time accurate, there is another Green Parrots Software-developed application you could try – I am of course talking about 1st Atomic Time.

This application performs a simple task: it will synchronize your system’s time with an atomic clock over the web. There are two ways you can sync the time – you can do it manually or you can let 1st Atomic Time do it automatically. If you want to do it manually, all you have to do is click the “Synchronize” button -> then click “Go” in the window that shows up-> then click “Accept” in the other window that shows up.

If you want to let 1st Atomic Time do it automatically, then you must access the “Options” menu. From the left hand side click “Exact time” -> then click the “Auto adjust” tab -> then check the box next to “Adjust automatically. You can let 1st Atomic Time automatically sync the system time every hour, every couple of hours, or once a day.

Here are some technical details you may want to know about 1st Atomic Time before you get the application and put it through its paces:
Download – the download weighs in at little over 1MB. Even on a lousy internet connection, downloading 1MB will take very little time. To my mind, not having to wait a long time for a download to complete is always a nice thing.
Installation – installing 1st Atomic Time goes along as rapidly as the download did; it is a simple process that should not pose any problems to any user. 1st Atomic Time can be installed on all versions of the Microsoft-developed Windows operating system, including the latest and greatest, Windows 7 (32-bit as well as 64-bit editions).
Limitations - 1st Atomic Time is free to try. This means you can use 1st Atomic Time free of charge only during a 30-day trial period. During this trial period you can expect to see nag screens, and you can expect 1st Atomic Time to not save customization options.

1st Atomic Time is an easy to use application that lets you sync your system time with atomic clocks. It lets you do this manually, or can do it automatically for you. A great app if you want to ensure you always have the correct time.

Pros
  • Manually or automatically sync the system time
  • 1st Atomic Time can work as a time server for any size network.
  • Lightweight download size
  • Works with all Windows versions
  • Easy to use
  • Plenty of useful info in the Help file

Cons
  • Free to try
